Censer: Blue and white Ceramic Censer - Small
A censer is a small metal or stone dish used for burning incense.
To the Christians, burning incense represents the prayers of the faithful rising towards Heaven as a sweet smelling spiritual fragrance. One commonly sung psalm during the censing is "Let my prayer rise like incense before You, the lifting up of my hands like the evening sacrifice."
Some suggest that the censer also represents the Holy Theotokos because like she contained within her womb the Divine Fire, so too, the censer contains the burning coal of faith.
To use: Carefully position a burning censer charcoal in the middle of the receptacle. Carefully place 1-3 pieces of your censer incense atop the burning charcoal. Your censer is ready to be used. Once incense and charcoal have burned, discard. Some line their censers with aluminium foil, aiding with cleaning between each use.
